Issues

Literacy is the foundation for all student achievement. Currently, only 26% of our SUSD 3rd graders meet or exceed the California English and literacy standards. This is unacceptable! As Trustee, I intend to call attention to this critical standard and seek sustainable solutions our students deserve.

Accountability is one of the core responsibilities as a Trustee. This includes fiscal accountability. As Trustee, I intend to hold our district responsible to the recommendations and requirements outlined in the recent Financial Crisis & Management Assistant Team’s (FCMAT) Fiscal and Facilities Review and the San Joaquin County Grand Jury Reports.

Community engagement is critical if Trustees are to represent the community’s values and priorities. As Trustee, I will hold regular office hours and listening sessions. However, I believe we can do more for our students and their families to feel seen, heard, and supported.
