As your Stockton Unified Area 6 Trustee and Board President, I am proud to share an important milestone in our district’s journey.
Effective June 30, 2026, the California Department of Education officially removed Stockton Unified School District from High-Risk Designation.
This achievement belongs to our entire Stockton Unified community.
It is the result of years of dedicated work by our district employees, school leaders, educators, classified professionals, students, families, labor partners, and Board of Trustees. Together, we committed ourselves to strengthening our financial systems, improving accountability, and ensuring our district operates with transparency and integrity.
Reaching this milestone did not happen overnight. It required countless hours of collaboration, difficult decisions, continuous monitoring, and an unwavering commitment to doing what is best for our students. Every department played a role in meeting and exceeding the highest standards of fiscal and compliance accountability.
When a school district is financially stable and accountable, it creates opportunities to invest where they matter most:
- Safe, welcoming campuses
- Outstanding teachers and staff
- Modern classrooms and technology
- Career Technical Education pathways
- Student wellness and support services
- Expanded academic opportunities
- Resources that help every child succeed
Strong governance and sound financial stewardship make these investments possible.
This accomplishment reflects how far Stockton Unified has come. It demonstrates that when a community works together with a shared vision, meaningful progress is possible. We’ve strengthened accountability, restored confidence in our systems, and built a stronger foundation for future generations of students.
While we celebrate this milestone, we remain committed to continuous improvement, responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, academic excellence, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive. Every decision we make should move us closer to that goal.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this achievement. Your dedication, professionalism, and belief in Stockton Unified have helped write an important new chapter in our district’s history.
Together, we have proven that responsible governance leads to stronger schools, stronger communities, and greater opportunities for every student.
The future of Stockton Unified is brighter because of the work we’ve accomplished together.
